Many people all over the world have been touched by the tragedy that befell New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina and the subesquent flooding. New Orleans is (or was) one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. But many tourists never see much more than the French Quarter (some don't even see the Quarter, except for Bourbon Street), so they miss much of what gives New Orleans its unique character.
A few years ago the Pontchartrain Chapter of USABDA (as it was called then), in Slidell, Louisiana, posted several pictures of New Orleans locations that are of interest to dancers and other music lovers on its web site. That web page is reproduced here, with permission.
