USA Dance, Greater Memphis Chapter, offers inexpensive, group Ballroom Dance Classes each Sunday evening, throughout the year at the Berclair Civic Club.** These classes are structured for the Beginner as “Basic I”, and Advanced Beginner to Intermediate, as “Basic II”. The dances offered are American Smooth and Rhythm. Smooth Dances include: Waltz, Foxtrot, Bolero, and Viennese Waltz. Rhythm Dances include: Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Rhumba, Samba, Tango and Swing (both East Coast and West Coast).
The Dances are rotated each month with Basic II picking up the Basic I dance from the previous month, thus giving the student 8 weeks of a particular dance. Each Sunday’s class builds upon the previous week, finalizing on the 4th Sunday. The student now begins to feel the self-confidence and joy of Dancing.
Professional, local, Instructors, are rotated each month, thus enabling students to experience the individual teaching styles. Students now have a basic knowledge of dances and instructors, and can further the dance experience by choosing an instructor for private or studio group lessons.
